Good Morning All!
Just closing the loop on this inquiry. It's been determined through several discussions with DE and PW that there is no
need/basis to open a case or to contact the property owner and require an approach at this time. Codes in place at the
time of garage construction did not require an approach; the property owner was contacted at the time of University
Road improvements and declined an approach.
The City will be relocating the existing no parking sign currently located on private property.
Hope that helps!

Subject: RE: 524 S University - Approach Question
I believe this warrants further discussion due to the fact the accessory building in question was permitted and built in
2003. Prior to turning this over to Code enforcement we need to be sure that an approach permit was in fact a required
item for accessory structures in 2003; if yes, then Code Enforcement would be the avenue to gain compliance.
Thanks
Doug.

Yes they need an approach permit, they do not have an approach at this time to be widened.

Hi All,
There currently is no driveway approach and the property owner is driving over the curb to access the property. Also
the sign has an STA sign and a City maintained no parking bike lane sign. I will coordinate with STA and have the sign
relocated.
Thanks,
Ryan

Subject: 524 S University - Approach Question
Hi Guys —
Ryan Kipp fielded a call from STA re: a property owner who called them wanting to take out an STA sign located on their
property. Ryan brought to my attention the fact that the owner appears to be accessing their garage by hopping the
curb. The garage was built with permits in 2003 but no associated approach permit was required. Couple of questions:
1. Do we need to/want to tell the owner they need to come in for an approach permit to widen the existing
approach(es)?
2. Since STA's sign appears to be on the private property (ROW line appears to be at back of sidewalk and no BE
appears to be recorded per SciMap), I'm thinking this is a matter between STA and the owner ... do you agree?
Thanks for getting back to me with any thoughts - Mary
