Dear Mr. Lyonnais,
We have reviewed the definition of a "Church" in your zoning code and believe that the
proposed parsonage and clergy quarters should be allowed without having to go through
the short plat process.
In your Zoning Code it spells out in the first part of the definition of Church that there is
an allowance for a main building or other structure contains the sanctuary or principal
place of worship, and it then goes on to say that in the main building or in separate
buildings or structures, including Sunday school rooms and religious education
classrooms, assembly rooms, a common kitchen, a library or reading room, recreational
hall and quarters on site for nuns and clergy.
It is in the last statement about nuns and clergy where we believe that their Teachers and
Pastor would qualify under your definition as quarters on site for nuns and clergy. We do
not have nuns in the Lutheran Faith, but believe that their Teachers are serving in same
capacities as nuns would in the Catholic Faith.
Thank you for your consideration in this matter. If you have any questions please call me
at 466.6011.
Sincerely,
Lance Martin
