Subject: Zoning Ordinance interpetation of "Story"
Reference to Permit application for E. 4616 7th by Romald E. Prior to
relocate an late 1930's to early 1940's single family home onto a non -conforming
lot of record.
The interpetation is as follows---- since the sturcture has a steep sloped roof
and does not meet the critera of 7 1/2 ft attic ceiling which would exceed
one-half the main floor space, the Planning Departments interpetation i,S,.,that
this stucture is not a two story residents. However since the sturcture has
windows at each end of the structure at the attic level and a set of small stairs
to the attic, the Planning Department make as a condition of this interpetation
that the building permit require that the windows at the attic level be removed
and that the stairs to the attic be removed and replaced with another means of
access to the attic (other that fixed stairs).
The above conditions of interpetation is intended to assure that the appearance
and practical use of the attic does not become a living space, it is to be
limited to storage space only.
