Dear Tom:
Please find below, and attached, the necessary documents identified in our last discussion of
November 13, 1998:
1) Chapter 180-90 WAC, Private Schools; this document identifies, and defines, what a
"private school" is. It was sent to us, from Olympia, as part of the 1998-99 Application for
Private School Approval. The lady, to whom both my wife and I spoke to, was Ms. Joan
Isle, Sr. Secretary for the Director of Education Support & Private Education. Her telephone
number is, if needed, (360) 753 2562.
As you can see by the definition, a stand alone Kindergarten is not required to be approved by
the state.
2) Teaching Certification by the State of Washington of Elizabeth Louise Engeberg for grades
K-12. It should be noted that a teacher need not be certified by the state of Washington in
order to teach in a stand alone Kindergarten.
3) Yearly curriculum for the Kid City Kindergarten. A draft copy is enclosed for when it was
identified that there would be no need to submit it to the State for approval, Liz didn't type it
up (should you want a typed copy please advise).
4) Kid City Kindergarten 1998-99 school year calendar. The calendar details special dates and
incorporates information for parents pertaining to our school and educational mission.
5) Letter to Terry Chambers. This letter addresses the water usage issue with a water reduction
plan incorporated.
I hope this information provides you with the answers necessary to help us move forward in
finalizing compliance in this matter. If I can be of any other assistance to you, or if you need
clarification of the information contained herein, please do not hesitate to contact us.
,Sincerely,
Mitchell`J. & Lucentte Hicks
