Re: McLean/Four Seasons Greenhouse Design and Remodeling
Center
Dear Mr. Hyslop:
Thank you for your December 12, 1988 letter regarding the
above referenced matter. Since that time, I have had an
opportunity to speak with Arthur Erickson of the Spokane
County Department of Building and Safety, and to review the
file.
Mr. Erickson sent your client a letter, dated September 19,
1989, outlining alleged problems in connection with the
covered patio addition constructed at East 9504 - 7th
Avenue. The addition was to be unheated and not used for
habitation. In addition, the walls were to have openings
as specified in Section 4901 of the Uniform Building Code.
Apparently, the addition was heated, used for habitation,
and did not contain the required wall openings.
The file indicates several conversations took place between
you and Mr. Erickson between October 2, 1989 and December
11, 1989 regarding this matter. Apparently, an extension
was granted to allow your client to pursue a resolution of
the problem with the manufacturer, C-Thru. Records of the
last conversation of December 11, 1989 indicate that
C-Thru had not yet responded to your client's requests.

Mr. Hyslop - _ - January 16, 1990
On December 13, 1989, Mr. Erickson notified your client that the
patio cover addition had not yet been brought into compliance with
manufacturer's requirements and the conditions of the permit issued
for this project.
The following day the file was forwarded to our office.
Mr. Erickson requests, on behalf of the Department of Building and
Safety, that our office pursue normal enforcement measures in this
case. Accordingly, as is the customary practice, I am requesting
that your client pursue corrective action within thirty (30) days of
the date of this letter. Failure to take appropriate corrective
measures may result in a complaint being filed against him for a
violation of the Uniform Building Code. Mr. Erickson and I would be
willing to meet with you during that thirty (30) day period in order
to discuss a resolution of this matter.
If you have any questions or comments, please do not hesitate to
contact me.
Very truly yours,
Ronald P. Arkills
