Ordinance 20-017 Property Tax Levy CITY OF SPOKANE VALLEY SPOKANE COUNTY,WASHINGTON ORDINANCE NO.20-017 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SPOKANE VALLEY, SPOKANE COUNTY, WASHINGTON, LEVYING THE REGULAR PROPERTY TAXES FOR THE CITY OF SPOKANE VALLEY, WASHINGTON FOR THE YEAR COMMENCING JANUARY 1, 2021 TO PROVIDE REVENUE FOR CITY SERVICES AS SET FORTH IN THE CITY BUDGET,AND OTHER MATTERS RELATING THERETO. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Spokane Valley has met and considered its budget for the calendar year 2021;and WHEREAS, the City's actual levy amount from the previous year was $12,399,226; and WHEREAS,the population of the City is more than 10,000. NOW, THEREFORE,the City Council of the City of Spokane Valley, do ordain as follows: Section 1. Property Tax Levy - An increase in the regular property tax levy is hereby authorized for the levy to be collected in the 2021 tax year. The dollar amount of the increase over the actual levy amount from the previous year shall be $0.00 which is a percentage increase of 0.0% from the previous year. This increase is exclusive of additional revenue resulting from new construction, improvements to property, newly constructed wind turbines, any increase in the value of state assessed property, any annexations that have occurred, and refunds made. Section 2. Transmittal of Budget. A complete copy of the budget as adopted, together with a copy of this Ordinance, shall be transmitted by the City CIerk to the Division of Municipal Corporations in the Office of the State Auditor, and to the Association of Washington Cities. Section 3. Severability. If any section, sentence, clause or phrase of this Ordinance shall be held to be invalid or unconstitutional by a court of competent jurisdiction, such invalidity or unconstitutionality shall not affect the validity or constitutionality of any other section, sentence, clause, or phase of this Ordinance. Section 4. Effective Date. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect five days after the date of publication of this Ordinance or a summary thereof in the official newspaper of the City.
