Re: 2023 Hourly Rate Increases
Dear Cary:
At the beginning of each year,we review our hourly rates and generally will make modest
increases to recover increases in our operating costs. As you know, we do not separately
bill clients for routine operating costs,preferring instead to absorb them within our rate structure.
Rate increases also are appropriate to reflect the higher value of services provided by now more
experienced lawyers. Of course,these increases will be applied only to the extent they are
consistent with the terms and conditions of any existing engagement agreements, and are not
applicable to our fixed fee arrangements for bond or disclosure counsel services. One of our
core values is to provide top quality legal services on a cost-effective basis.
Please be assured that any rate increases have been made with fidelity to that principle in mind.
In accordance with the notice procedure included in our contract with the City, we request the
following annual increases. Time recorded beginning January 1, 2023 will be billed for the
purposes of hourly billings at our new rates,which are noted below. As always,we only bill on
an hourly basis for special projects undertaken at the City's request.
