Good Afternoon Lori,
I am writing you today because I would like to be on record as opposing the Painted Hills
Residential Project or at least see it done on a smaller scale.
I know that you have heard hundreds of comments regarding the inadequate services and
infrastructure for the project. I would like to comment on the overall infrastructure of the
South Valley area. We built and have lived in our house in the Ponderosa Neighborhood for
11 years. While we chose this location for the rural/semi suburban lifestyle, we indeed
wanted and feel like the area needed more amenities. We have seen many projects occur
during the time we have been there and being a City of Spokane employee, know that these
developments MUST occur. The thing that I am concerned about is that the South Valley
where this is all occurring is there really is only 2 ways to get to the places of our
employment. Dishman Mica, which has seen traffic congestion and trip counts steadily
increasing, and Pines road which runs immediately past a number of schools. I would like to
see the City of Spokane Valley and State work together to prepare for this tremendous influx
of development in the area as It is just going to get busier.
Thanks for all you do, I know that City employees sometimes get a really bad rap and I know
that isn't true. This is a tough spot to be in, good luck!
