As residents of the City of Spokane Valley (but not the Painted Hills neighborhood), we strongly oppose what is happening to the Painted Hills Golf Course property. We wereshocked, saddened, and dismayed that the City of Spokane Valley did not step up to keep the golf course operational or look at alternative uses when the opportunity first arose. We hopeit is not too late to change this. Retaining the natural beauty of the area would be impossible with the planned development which would result in destruction of the flood plain and naturalhabitat. Beyond the impact on schools, roads, traffic and other infrastructure, the biggest question before the residents of Spokane Valley is our quality of life. As longtime residents ofthe valley, we appreciate and enjoy the amenities that are available to us (shopping, good roads, medical facilities, excellent schools, recreational opportunities, etc.), but moreimportantly, we value the environment, natural beauty, and lifestyle that is Spokane Valley. In that regard, the planned development is an overall negative. It will further strain ourincreasingly over-crowded school system, impact traffic, decrease pedestrian safety, and turn Spokane Valley into what many people from California and large cities come here to get awayfrom. The disruption to the valley that will start with large numbers of heavy trucks lumbering back and forth hauling thousands of loads of dirt and construction material won'tend there. We will continue to have years of ongoing construction, heavy traffic, and degrading of the gem that was the Painted Hills area. We sincerely hope that the City ofSpokane Valley reconsiders their approval of this massive development and comes up with a way to preserve the Painted Hills Golf Course area for now and for future generations. Sincerely, Gregory and Kathleen Wilson11715 E 15th Ave Spokane Valley509-922-4273
