I am writing in to join those who oppose this. I have not had a chance to fully research all facts, but what I have read (so far) does not seem like it would cause a positive impact on the community. As of now, the car and foot traffic going up and down Madison is high. With the addition of approximately 580 new homes, it would be worse and unsafe for pedestrians and bicyclists. Schools are already at capacity. How/what is the city going to do to accommodate the increase? I have a child currently at Horizon Middle School and parents already have to park on the street and along Madison for school functions. Traffic passing Chester Elementary is already congested. Please consider the safety and class sizes of these already full schools. With an addition of so many homes not only would increase traffic, but auto accidents and crime would also go up. I have been here since February and have noticed minimal police presence. Normally I support development because it brings jobs and money to the community. But, to overcrowd and build just to fill an area is ridiculous. Please consider protecting this area as a natural habitat for the wildlife, flora, etc. This past week 2 eagles were seen at the old golf course. I strongly feel that this area would benefit the city more if preserved for the wildlife and groomed as park with safe trails.
