RE: Painted Hills Preservation
We would like you to review this project more thoroughly as to the impact this project will have on the surroundings. The valley is known for it’s open spaces, wildlife, light traffic and a relatively low crime rate. It is unfortunate that The Painted Hills Golf Course closed. It was a great recreation area for the
summertime activity, but not during the spring when the grounds thaw and the Chester Creek begins its runoff causing water over the roads and standing water on the golf course property. It is our understanding that the builder wants to bring in an enormous amount of dirt and fill to bring the level of land up to the flood plain level or just above. Unless that ground is excavated and mixed
with the fill that would be coming in, the water will still be a problem. Over a period of time the building structures will begin to have damages to their foundations. When this happens the builder/developer will be long gone, with his big profit, and the residents and home owners will be faced with unforeseen expenses. Why would any insurance company want to insure a homeowner for their property when this area a few years earlier was in a known flood plane?
The high density that is proposed will create a large problem with the traffic in and out of the Painted Hills area. Already the residents there are faced with only one way in and out should they need to evacuate due to a forest fire. The apartment build-out will create an over population in our schools and local park areas. This proposal is will create approximately 6,000 daily car trips with the ingress and
egress on Madison Road and Dishman Mica. They are wanting to build 1,200 multi-family dwellings that could increase by 4,800 residents. You are voted in by the City of Spokane Valley residents—not by one developer. It is your duty to keep our Valley safe. With this increase in population, do you realize that our Fire Dept, Police Dept
and schools will need to be increased? Are the Valley residents willing to pay higher taxes because of this extreme build-out? Sincerely, Concerned citizens
