This whole process, from the auction to this proposal, stinks to high heaven. There are so many questions and few answers. I have lived in midilome since 1989 and have witnessed the changes. Access to open space has decreased every year since 1989. Places I rode my mountain bike are now full of high end, gated developments. My taxes have increased greatly to support this growth. New schools, new roads, new taxes while our quality of life decreases. This does not benefit most of the residents in this area. The detrimental environmental effects of this development are also of great concern. This is a flood plain. Hauling in millions of yards of dirt doesn’t change the fact that a ecosystem that supports waterfowl, deer, native plants and number of other organism that help to retain our groundwater is being destroyed for the benefit of no one but the developer. And, to the detriment of all the residents in this area. Finally, there are ways of development that honor the environment and the residents. This proposal is not one. This is an example of the arrogance of a development company that is willing to sacrifice my way of life in order to maximize profits. I, for one, am fed up with development as the holy grail. This is far from a balanced approach that would honor the citizens (taxpayers) who built Spokane Valley to what it is today. Thank you for your time and consideration. Marc Hamilton 11722 E. 37th Av.
