BY SPOKANE VALLEY CITY COUNCIL
The following is the title and summary of Ordinance No. 05-011 passed by the City of Spokane Valley
City Council on the 8th day of March,2005.
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SPOKANE VALLEY, SPOKANE COUNTY,
WASHINGTON, DECLARING THE INTENT TO ANNEX THE CITY OF SPOKANE
VALLEY INTO THE SPOKANE COUNTY LIBRARY DISTRICT,AND SUBMITTING
TO THE QUALIFIED ELECTORS OF THE CITY AT AN ELECTION MAY 17, 2005,
A PROPOSITION AUTHORIZING THE ANNEXATION OF THE CITY INTO THE
SPOKANE COUNTY LIBRARY DISTRICT; AND ESTABLISHING AN EFFECTIVE
DATE.
The introductory paragraphs state that the City of Spokane Valley has authority to initiate by ordinance,
the inclusion of the City into the Spokane County Library District and desires to join that District.
Section 1 states the intent is to annex into the Spokane County Library District and finds that the public
interest will be served thereby.
Section 2 states that the State Librarian was notified of this proposed annexation, and that the Board of
Trustees for the Spokane County Library District concurs with the annexation.
Section 3 requests the Spokane County Board of Commissioners to authorize by resolution,the Spokane
County auditor to call and conduct an election May 17,2005
Section 4 authorizes and directs the City Clerk to furnish copies of the ordinance to the Board of County
Commissioners and the Spokane County Auditor.
Section 5 provides for a severability clause.
Section 6 states this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect five (5) days after publication of the
Ordinance Summary.
