The following is the title and summary of Ordinance No. 05-017 passed by the City of Spokane Valley
City Council on the 12th day of April, 2005.
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SPOKANE VALLEY, SPOKANE COUNTY,
WASHINGTON, ADOPTING AND ESTABLISHING SECTION 5.20 OF THE
SPOKANE VALLEY MUNICIPAL CODE FOR THE LICENSING AND OPERATION
OF PAWNBROKERS IN THE CITY OF SPOKANE VALLEY; AND PROVIDING FOR
SEVERABILITY AND EFFECTIVE DATE.
The introductory paragraphs state that the City of Spokane Valley finds it is in the public interest to adopt
regulations for the business of pawnbrokers in the City.
Section 1: states that the purpose of this ordinance is to establish regulations for licensing and operation
of pawnbrokers in the City of Spokane Valley.
Section 2: creates a new chapter 5.20 of the Spokane Valley Municipal Code entitled"Pawnbrokers"
Section 3: provides for a severability clause.
Section 4: states this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect five (5) days after publication of the
Ordinance Summary.
