The following is the title and summary of Ordinance No. 05-024 passed by the City of Spokane Valley
City Council on the 9th day of August,2005.
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SPOKANE VALLEY, SPOKANE COUNTY,
WASHINGTON,AMENDING SPOKANE VALLEY MUNICIPAL CODE 2.25 CREATING THE
OFFICE, ESTABLISHING DUTIES AND PROVIDING FOR APPOINTMENT OF CITY
ATTORNEY.
The introductory paragraphs explain that Council desires to prescribe the powers and duties for the City
attorney pursuant to RCW 35A.13.080.
Section 1: states that the intent of the ordinance is to bring City code provisions into conformity with
state law requirements relating to the powers and duties of the City Manager.
Section 2: amends Spokane Valley Municipal Code Section 2.25 to state that the office of City Attorney
shall be filled by appointment by the City Manager; and that the duties of the City Attorney include
attending all regular and special meetings of the City Council unless otherwise excused.
Section 3: provides for a severability clause.
Section 4: states this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect five (5) days after publication of the
Ordinance Summary.
