Change Order 3 takes a credit from the contractor for not galvanizing a six inch diameter casing
pipe installed under the Union Pacific Railroad spur line on Broadway Avenue on the west side
of the Lake Road intersection. The Contractor claimed that galvanizing the casing would delay
installation of the casing by a week. The work was scheduled to be done after the railroad
removed the existing crossing and before it installed a concrete plank crossing. The galvanizing
was not required by the railroad so it was waived in exchange for a credit. The cost of the credit
is based on the attached quote from Spokane Galvanizing
The total estimated cost (incl. tax) for this Change Order work is - $341.04, paid for by an 80.0%
STA grant and the City of Spokane Valley. There are sufficient funds in the project budget to
cover these costs.
Original Contract amount = 1 $508,306.75
