Greg Prothman, President. With more than 20 years experience in various functions of government and the public sector Greg Prothman brings a solid and grounded perspective to best serve his clients. Greg offers a unique combination of in- depth, first hand city management experience combined with a thorough understanding of local government and public sector employment. Early on he served as a Renton Police Officer before making the move to Assistant City Manager for the city of Des Moines and then to City Manager, also for the City of Des Moines. Greg's 12 year tenure in city management benefits his clients due to his first hand experience and the ability to thoroughly understand the client's needs. He's walked in their shoes — from police officer to top management. Noted as one of the region's leading progressive municipal managers, Greg brings a creative and thorough understanding of all facets of municipal administration. As President of The Prothman Company Greg lends his talent and experience to clients desiring a facilitator, management consultant, or executive recruiter. Greg is uniquely positioned, through his outstanding background, to facilitate council retreats, staff retreats, and to offer consulting services, executive and manager level coaching, as well as personnel recruitment services. Greg most recently provided facilitation services for the cities of Battle Ground, Mill Creek, and Marysville, to name a few. Additionally, he has conducted over 75 executive searches, successfully placing city managers, finance directors, police and fire chiefs, public works and planning directors and many other positions. He has also formed and managed start -up teams for four newly incorporated cities. Greg's clients say the following: "One of Greg's best attributes is how he can relate to what you are going through. Greg has helped me understand a potentially messy situation and then coached me on turning it around. I was just too close to it and needed somebody who could take a look from the top down. His ability to see the situation and map out corrective action is invaluable." "Greg's humor is a wonderful ice - breaker. Our Council was sparring with each other fast becoming a 4 -3 council. We had Greg facilitate our council retreat. We truly got to laughing at ourselves and got to know each other a lot better. We're all now looking forward to the rest of our terms." Greg is the current Chairman of Seattle Mountain Rescue and frequently participates with King County Search and Rescue on missions to find missing hikers and climbers. He is also a 25 year member of Crystal Mountain Volunteer Ski Patrol. When the weather turns warmer he rides his Harley Davidson every chance he gets — including a ride last year to Alaska and back. A Seattle native Greg completed his BA at Western Washington University and his Master of Public Administration from the University of Washington.
