HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 26-012 Adopt the Master Parking Prohibition ScheduleCITY OF SPOKANE VALLEY SPOKANE COUNTY, WASHINGTON RESOLUTION NO.26-012 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SPOKANE VALLEY, SPOKANE COUNTY, WASHINGTON, ADOPTING A MASTER PARKING PROHIBITION SCHEDULE; AND OTHER MATTERS RELATED THERETO. WHEREAS, the City Council adopted chapter 9.40 of the Spokane Valley Municipal Code, which, in part, provides that the parking prohibition areas for streets can be established by ordinance or resolution; and WHEREAS, the City Council from time -to -time may modify parking prohibition areas to better reflect changing traffic conditions and roadway characteristics; and WHEREAS, the City Council has authority pursuant to chapter 9.40 SVMC to change parking prohibition areas, provided that such alteration shall be made on the basis of an engineering and traffic investigation, and consider the relationship between the need for parking spaces for adjacent land uses, the purpose of the parking prohibition, and the need for parking spaces for the general public, and be in the interest of property owners, patrons, and prospective patrons of the places within the block or area served by the parking prohibition; and WHEREAS, the City's Traffic Engineer has completed an engineering and traffic investigation of relevant roadway segments and recommends that the Master Parking Prohibition Schedule be created accordingly; and WHEREAS, the City Council has considered the need for parking, the purpose of the prohibitions, and finds that the proposed Master Parking Prohibition Schedule serves the interests of the public in the designated areas; and WHEREAS, these areas will be listed in the Master Parking Prohibition Schedule adopted by the City. NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Spokane Valley, Spokane County, Washington, as follows: Section 1. Adoption of the Master Parking Prohibition Schedule. The Master Parking Prohibition Schedule, attached to this Resolution 26-012 and incorporated herein by this reference, is hereby adopted. Section 2. Re eal. To the extent that any previous actions to establish parking prohibition areas are inconsistent with those set forth herein, they are repealed. Section 3. Effective Date. This Resolution shall be effective upon adoption. Adopted this 21 sc day of July, 2026.
