MINUTES, AUGUST 7, 1961
ZONING ADJUSTOR
2. VE- 23-61. Fence Height Variance
Zoning Adjustor Decision: Approved for the following reasons:
A. Reasoner
1. The difficulty requiring a variance would, apply to the property
in question regardless of the owner because the lot has not
privag due to a double frontage lot with a dead-end street
facing the bask of the house.
2. The difficulty requiring'a variance is not the result of an
illegal act upon the part'of the applicant.
3. The difficulty requiring a variance is not the result of
personal condition: of the applicant.,,.,.
4. The difficulty requiring a variance is.due to, unique
related to the property in question and is not the general
condition of the surrounding and adjacent properties.
B. General Data:

Gentlemen :-
One of the puzzled
Property Owners
Spokane 6, Washington
August 1, 1961
It has been noted from literature sent out from your office
that the mooning Ordinance in the vicinity of Park Road, Railroad Avenue,
Inaiana,Baldwin and Nora, including Edgerton, Center and Ely permits
only a four foot fence. .From the wording of this literature it is the
assumption that any one who wish to build a- fence over four feet must
have the consent of the property owners of the neighborhood.
beginning east. of Park Road and on the south side of Baldwin is
fence that is more than six feet in height and no property owner in this
neighborhood ever gave their consent for that fence to be build, There
are other fences in this same neighborhood that exceed four feet, And
what is worst still these fences. are builded with lumber and completely
obstruct the view of the entire neighborhood, For some time the property
owners of this neighborhood have complain to one a.nother about the high
fences but felt that one could build a fence as high as they please, Igor
years this neighborhood was without a. fence of any kind they just drove
a stake in the ground and this is where my land stop and where your land
start and that was it.
What. we the property owner of this neighborhood cannot understana
is,Ir.:the Ordinance say only a four feet fence why do we have six ana
seven feet fences ?. And how permission was obtain to build these:.fences ?.
