Thanks Steve Clark From: Craig Aldworth [mai Ito :caldworth @spokanevalley.org] Sent: Tuesday, March 23, 2010 5:37 PM To: Steve Clark Cc: Pete Fisch; Ryan Kipp Subject: Broadway Sullivan - Draft CO 2 Steve: The City wishes to re- install the south end of the existing PCC median curb on the south side of the Broadway / Sullivan intersection as a straight curb with the same bid length. See the attached Draft CO 2 Exhibit. The surrounding area around the existing curved concrete median curb appears to have been overlayed, so relocation of the curb will require an additional 111 SY bituminous of planning to 2 inches deep in the surrounding area and overlaying with HMA Cl %" PG 70-28, 0.17 ft Depth. Since the stage 1 traffic control plan should handle this change, I propose preparing the change order using the bid prices: Item No Description Unit Quantity Unit cost Total 8 Bituminous Planing, 2 Inch Depth SY 111 $1.05 $ 116.55 18 HMA CL % In. PG 70 -28, .17 Ft Depth SY 111 $42.0 $4,662.00 Total CO 2 $4,778.55 Please email or call me to discuss. Sincerely, Craig Aldworth, P.E. Project Engineer 720 -5001 1 Craig Aldworth From: Craig Aldworth Sent: Saturday, March 20, 2010 2:57 PM To: Isclark @acmeconcretepaving.com' Cc: Pete Fisch Subject: Broadway Sullivan PCCP Intersection Project - Draft CO 1 Attachments: Broadway Sullivan Draft CO 1.pdf; CO 1 - CB 5 Dtl.pdf Steve: Attached is a preliminary draft of Change Order 1 for the Broadway Sullivan Intersection Project. The Change Order covers three different problems. Item 58, Pedestrian Control and Protection, lump sum provides a payment method for the Pedestrian Control and Protection measures shown on the project Plan sheets 16, 20 and 24. A Bid item for this was not included in the Bid Schedules. After a review of other projects with this bid item, I propose a lump sum cost of $2,000 for this work. Item 59, Catch Basin 5 Modifications, lump sum, provides payment for leaving an existing catch basin in place and connecting the proposed project pipe to it at a lower invert than existing, instead of connecting to a new type 1L catch basin (CB 5). See the attached CO 1 CBS Detail. This is required by the Bonneville Power Administration to protect a nearby high voltage power pole. I propose a lump sum cost of $500 for this work. Item 60, Widen Concrete Traffic Island from 12 In to 24 In Wide, per linear foot, provides additional payment for installing the 24 inch wide median islands, as shown on the plans. Base Bid item 32 incorrectly called out payment for 12 inch wide medians. I propose the additional widening price of $12.00 /1-F which will double the Acme unit bid price of $12.00 /LF for 12 inch wide median. Payment for any 24 inch wide median would include Bid Item 32 and Item 60. Please call me to discuss. I will be in the office all day Monday. Sincerely, Craig Aldworth Project Engineer 720 -5001
