The following is the title and summary of Ordinance No. 10-025 passed by the Spokane Valley City
Council on the 14th day of December 2010:
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SPOKANE VALLEY, SPOKANE COUNTY, WASHINGTON,
AMENDING SPOKANE VALLEY MUNICIPAL CODE 2.75.010 RELATING TO AUTHORITY AND
PURPOSE, 2.75.020 RELATING TO THE CITY PUBLIC RECORD OFFICER, 2.75.040 RELATING
TO PROCESSING RECORD REQUESTS, 2.75.070 RELATING TO COSTS OF PRODUCING
RECORDS,AND OTHER MATTERS RELATED THERETO.
Section 2 of the ordinance further clarifies the definition of"public record" as found in RCW
42.56.070(2). Section 3 includes the Public Works Maintenance Shop as a city office; and further
updates the phone number of the City's public records officer. Section 4 adds the provision that
staff may direct a requestor to the city's internet address where a specific record(s) can be
located; it also provides that if the requestor is making copies of records, the City may stop the
copying process if the records are being damaged or becoming disordered. Section 5 of the
ordinance removes all mentioned fees associated with public record copies, as the City's Master
Fee Schedule more appropriately contains city fees.
