After the fence posts are removed the contractor shall fill the resulting voids with crushed surfacing top course, compacted to 92% of maximum density as determined by the modified proctor test procedure. 2 -02.4 Measurement Add the following: "Remove Mow Strip from Fence Post ", shall be measured per each fence post. 2 -02.5 Payment Add the following: "Remove Mow Strip from Fence Post ", per each; shall be full payment for furnishing tools, labor, equipment, and materials required to jackhammer and remove sufficient mow strip to free each fence post: furnish, haul place and compact CSTC to fill each resulting void. SECTION 8 -12 CHAIN LINK FENCE AND WIRE FENCE 8 -12.1 Description Add the following: This work also consists of removing an existing chain link fence with posts and rails and re- installing it where shown on the plans. Indiana Avenue Extension Project CO 8 Specifications 8 -12.2 Materials Add the following: The Contractor shall remove and store the existing fence components in a secure area. The Contractor shall replace any parts or components of the fence that were damaged by his operations or caused by insecure storage, with components from the same manufacturer that match the color and style of the original fence. 8 -12.3 Construction Requirements Add the following: Removing Fence Prior to removing fence the Contractor shall meet in the field with the Engineer and the adjacent property owner. The Contractor shall tell the adjacent property owner and the Engineer his removal method and schedule and ask for any know conflicts such as underground sprinkler line locations or underground utility locations. 8 -12.4 Measurement Add the following: "Salvage and Re- install Chainlink Fence" will be measured per horizontal linear foot of fence re- installed including gates. 8 -12.5 Payment Add the following: "Salvage and Re- install Chainlink Fence" per linear foot. The unit Contract price per linear foot for "Salvage and Re- install Chainlink Fence" shall be full pay for all costs necessary to furnish all labor, tools, equipment and materials to temporarily remove the existing 4 foot high chain link fence and re- install at the location shown on the plans. The unit cost shall also include the cost of replacing any parts of the existing fence, with matching parts from the original fence manufacturer, or (when unobtainable) with parts approved by the Engineer, that were damaged during the removal and re- installation process. 2 Indiana Avenue Extension Project CO 8 Specifications 8 -24 SEGMENTAL CONCRETE MASONRY RETAINING WALL 8 -24.1 Description The segmental concrete masonry retaining wall work includes, but is not limited to: excavation, furnishing and installing leveling pad; furnishing and installing modular block concrete standard and cap units, furnishing and installing crushed surfacing top course backfill; in accordance with the Plans and Specifications, or as designated by the Engineer. 8 -24.2 Materials Modular Block Units shall be Roman Stack Stone by Mutual Materials (1- 888 - 688 -8250) or approved equal and shall have the following nominal dimensions: Height 4 ", Face Width 12 ", Depth 8 ". Standard Cap Units shall have the following nominal dimensions: Height 4 ", Face Width 12 ", Depth (transverse to face) 8 ". The modular block units shall have a tongue and grove connection system and shall be tan or earth tone in color. All units used shall be homogenous color and finish. Base leveling pad material and backfill shall conform to Section 9- 03.9(3) crushed surfacing base course (CSBC). 8 -24.3 Construction Requirements 8- 24.3(1) Quality Assurance The completed modular block wall shall meet the following tolerances: 1. Wall batter shall be vertical. 2. The exterior slope plane and grade in the finished surface of the wall shall be within 0.05' in 10 feet of length. 8- 24.3(2) Excavation The Contractor shall stake the location and elevation of the wall. Prior to excavation, the contractor shall verify with the Engineer final grades and elevations so that the completed modular block retaining wall shall fit proposed final grades. Excavation shall be to the verified lines and grades. 8- 24.3(3) Leveling Pad The leveling base pad shall have a minimum thickness of 6 inches and be compacted to a minimum of 95% maximum of modified Proctor. The leveling pad shall be prepared to insure full contact to the base surface of the modular block units. 8- 24.3(4) Modular Block Unit Installation The first course of segmental concrete units shall be placed on the leveling pad and checked for alignment and grade. Whole, or cut units shall be erected with running bond approximately centered on units above and below. Cap units shall be glued to underlying units with an adhesive recommended by the modular block unit manufacturer. 8- 24.3(5) Modular Block Unit Backfill Wall backfill placement and compaction shall be completed in 8 inch lifts after each course is laid. Topsoil shall be placed over the backfill to match the cap rock elevation as shown on the appropriate section in the plans. 8 -24.4 Measurement Modular Block Retaining Wall shall be measured by the installed square foot of vertical face. 8 -24.5 Payment Payment will be made in accordance with Section 1 -04.1 for: Modular Block Retaining Wall, per square foot.
