This Change Order reduces the contract amount by a $6,000.00 HMA Mix Design deduct offered by Spokane Rock Products (SRP).
The project was bid with HMA Class 112" PG 70 -28. SRP submitted an HMA Class 1/2" PG 64 -28 mlxwith a Job Mix Formula (JMF) previously
approved by the City of Spokane Slnce the submittal did not require a new JMF, SRP passed the cost savings on to the City per 4.29 -11 email.

Thank you for speaking with me
Spokane Rock Products would like to offer a substitution to the 75 gyration 70 -28 AC mix design as called for in the bid
document.
A few years ago, City of Spokane, Spokane County, and City of Spokane Valley got together and simplified the required
mix designs needed per year by the asphalt contractors. They are'' /z "HMA70 -28AC — 100 Gyration, '/2 "HMA64- 28AC -75
Gyration, '/z "HMA64- 28AC -50 Gyration, and 3/8 "HMA64- 28AC -75 Gyration. These are the mix designs carried by the
asphalt contractors each year. The 75 gyration 70 -28 AC -75 Gyration mix design has not been used in this area since I
have been here for the past 5 years. The County 3 years ago on Medical Lake proposed the 70 -28AC 75 gyration and
accepted the 100 gyration as a considered upgrade.
So the problem is the mix design to get through Strata and WSU confirmation will take approx 6 weeks. A rush can
probably get it done 4 -5 weeks which put it right on the proposed paving date, if everything goes right. Also, the mix
design is $4k and confirmation is another $2k.
I would rather credit the $6k to the City Valley and use either of the existing proven mix designs from last year used in the
Valley from last year either the '' /z "HMA70 -28AC -100 Gyration or the %2 "HMA64- 28AC -75 Gyration.
Please let me know as soon as possible, so I can get the new mix design going, if you want to do so.
