The following is the title and summary of Ordinance No. 12-013 passed by the Spokane Valley City
Council on the 24th day of April,2012:
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SPOKANE VALLEY, SPOKANE COUNTY, WASHINGTON
AMENDING SECTIONS OF SPOKANE VALLEY MUNICIPAL CODE 22.110 SIGN
REGULATIONS,AND OTHER MATTERS RELATED THERETO.
The recitals of the ordinance explain that Sign Regulations are consistent with the goals and policies of
the City's Comprehensive Plan and that Council finds the amendments to Spokane Valley Municipal
Code (SVMC) Chapter 22.110 set forth herein, maintain the health, safety and welfare of the general
public. Section 1 of the ordinance amends Spokane Valley Municipal Code 22.110 by clarifying and
further explaining some of the prohibited signs and stating the exceptions thereto. Section 1 also amends
22.110.030 by explaining that a permit is required for all allowed temporary signs unless otherwise
specified. Further general regulations for permitted permanent signs as explained in table 22.110-1
contained in the ordinance, with noted changes to multifamily complex areas, and by amending some of
the additional provisions under Freestanding Signs and Monument Signs. Further amendments to SVMC
22.110 include an explanation of off-premises directional signs and of permitted temporary signs.
Electronic message centers are amended as noted to require automatic dimming capability. All other
provisions of SVMC 22.110 not addressed in these amendments remain in full force and effect.

be mailed upon request to the City Clerk.
