CITY OF SPOKANE VALLEY RESOLUTION No 06-005
A resolution calling for the creation of a Regional Municipal Roundtable.
WHEREAS, the City of Spokane Valley incorporated in the year of 2003 as the
eighth largest city in the State of Washington;
WHEREAS, the City of Liberty Lake incorporated in the year of 2001;
WHEREAS, with the recent incorporations of the cities of Liberty Lake and
Spokane Valley approximately seventy-five percent of the residents within Spokane
County also reside within the municipal boundaries of the cities of Spokane County;
WHEREAS, the municipalities within Spokane County all operate under the same
general revenue base as provided by state statute;
WTIEREAS, the elected officials and staff members of the cities within Spokane'
County are constantly looking for means and methods to provide high quality municipal
services to their constituents at the most affordable cost;
WHEREAS, many municipalities within Spokane County share common
boundaries which provides the opportunity for joint efforts including joint planning for
mutual growth;
WHEREAS, many cities within Spokane County provide the same type of
services to their constituents as other neighboring cities creating the opportunity for
duplication of staff time and expenses;
WHEREAS, the cities of Spokane and Spokane Valley would like to Bather
together the legislative and administrative bodies of all of the cities within Spokane
County and explore the possibility to establish a Regional Municipal Roundtable to
provide a forum within which municipalities can identify and address areas of mutual
concern and identify and pursue opportunities of mutual benefit ;
NOW,THEREFOR, be it resolved that the mayors and city councils for the City
of Spokane and the City of Spokane Valley would like to host the first Spokane Regional
Municipal Roundtable and extend an invitation to the legislative and administrative
bodies of all of the cities of Spokane County to join in this effort to explore ways to better
serve the residents in all of our cities. The time and place for the first meeting shall be
mutually determined by the councils of the cities of Spokane and Spokane Valley in

consultation with the other cities in the county. Mr. Terry Novak shall serve as the
facilitator of the event.
