Resolution 03-011 Authorizes Entering into Agreement for Insurance Services CITY OF SPOKANE VALLEY SPOKANE COUNTY, WASHINGTON RESOLUTION NO. 03-011(1) A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING TIIE CITY OF SPOKANE VALLEY, SPOKANE COUNTY, WASHIl•iGTON,TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT FOR INSURANCE SERVICES AND COVERAGE. WHEREAS, the availability, adequacy and cost of insurance for public entities such as the City of Spokane Valley is an important concern to the City of Spokane Valley and its citizens; WHEREAS, joining together with other municipal corporations for joint self-insurance and/or joint purchase of insurance coverage as an alternative to conventional insurance purchase and claims procedures is in the best interest of the City of Spokane Valley; WHEREAS, the interim City Attorney has reviewed the Interlocal Agreement, dated January 12, 1993, creating the Washington Cities Insurance Authority, its Bylaws and various coverage programs and approves the same as to form; and WHEREAS, the City Council is desirous of becoming a member to the Interlocal Agreement commencing as of November 20, 2002 at 12:01 a.m. NOW, THEREFORE, be it Resolved by the City Council of the City of Spokane Valley, Spokane County, Washington, as follows: 1. IVIembershig. The City of Spokane Valley, Spokane County, Washington, desires to become a member of the Washington Cities Insurance Authority commencing November 20, 2002, at 12:01 a.m. 2. Agreement. The City of Spokane Valley agrees to and accepts the mutual benefits, covenants and agreements of the Interlocal Agreement creating the Washington Cities Insurance Authority and agrees to be bound thereby. The City Council authorizes the Interim City Manager to execute an "appendix" to the Interlocal Agreement, which will bind the City of Spokane Valley to said agreement that created the Washington Cities Insurance Authority. 3. Appointment to Board. In accordance with the Interlocal Agreement, the City Manager and/or Human Resources Director is appointed as a delegate to the Board of Directors and the Deputy Manager and/or Finance Director is appointed as alternate to the Board of Directors. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon passage by the City of Spokane Valley City Council and on the date of incorporation. Adopted this '7 day of January, 2003.
