This is defined as the calculated difference between the required subgrade elevation and the existing surface elevations after the existing pavement has been removed and the vegetation has been cleared and grubbed. Describe the Change Change Order 5 reduces the cost of 'Roadway Excavation Including Haul' because the measured field quantity exceeded the Unit Bid Form Quantity by over 25 %. The anticipated quantity was approximately 50 cubic yards; the actual quantity was 134 cubic yards. The contractor will be paid as for the first 62.5 cubic yards at the bid cost of $100 /cubic yard per section 1 -04.6 of the WSDOT Standard Specifications. The change order was for the remaining 71.5 cubic yards of material. The change had been issued unilaterally. 2. Evolution of the Change The change is purely a cost reduction of `Roadway Excavation Including Haul' in excess of 125% because the unit bid price was approximately 2.7 times as much as the bid form quantity. 3. Payment The cost was based off of Unit Bid Prices in accordance with Section 1 -09.4 of the WSDOT Standard Specifications. See the attached CO 5 Cost Establishment. 4. Time No Additional time was granted by the change order because the contractor was already aware of the amount of roadway excavation from the plans. 5. Prior Approval Prior Approval was obtained from the Spokane Valley Public Works Director. 6. Because of this substantial increase in quantity we have adjusted the price for any quantity above 125 %.
