Sprague Spokane Valley,WA 99206 (509)921-1000 NOTICE OF ORDINANCE PASSED BY SPOKANE VALLEY CITY COUNCIL The following is the title and summary of Ordinance No. 08-021 passed by the Spokane Valley City Council on the 14th day of October,2008: AN EMERGENCY INTERIM ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SPOKANE VALLEY, SPOKANE COUNTY, WASHINGTON ADOPTING AN INTERIM ORDINANCE AMENDING SPOKANE VALLEY MUNICIPAL CODE SECTIONS 20.30.020 AND 20.40.010 RELATING TO SURVEYING AND ELECTRONIC SUBMITTAL REQUIREMENTS FOR SUBDIVISIONS; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY AND SETTING A PUBLIC HEARING DATE. The purpose of this ordinance is to amend sections of the Uniform Development Code (UDC) standards that are not attainable by the development community and have little value in the subdivision approval process, and the requirement is not necessary and does not benefit the City or the development community. This change amends UDC sections 20.30.020 and 20.40.010. Pursuant to RCW 35A.13.190, the Council declares that an emergency exists in that finalization of development applications,without the amendments, are being withheld pursuant to existing code, thus requiring passage of this emergency ordinance to ensure timely and appropriate processing of plan applications; and to protect the public's general health,safety and welfare.The ordinance specifies a hearing date of December 9,2008 before the Council to consider this interim development ordinance. The ordinance became effective upon adoption by the Council, October 14, 2008, and will be effective for six months from said effective date of adoption.
