AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SPOKANE VALLEY,
SPOKANE COUNTY, WASHINGTON, AMENDMG SPOKANE VALLEY MUNICIPAL
CODE SECTION 9.05.030 '1'O ALLOW '1"HE ADOP7`lON OF SCHOOL SPEED ZONES
AND "f0 ALLOV~' SIGNAGE OP SCHOOL SPEED ZONES PURSUANT TO
WASFIINGTON ADMINISTRATIVE CODE SEC`C10N 395-151-035
\VHEREAS, the City of Spokane Valley adopted the maximum speed limits set forth in Spokane County
Code as Spokane Valley Municipal Codc section 9.05.030; and
WI•Ll~REAS, the City of Spokane Valley may modify the- maximum speed limits on its streets by
resolution or ordinance pursuant to Spokane Valley Municipal Code section 9.05.030; and
WHEREAS, the City of Spokane Valley may establish school speed pones pursuant to Revised Code of
Washington section 46.61.440; and
WHEREAS, Washington Administrative Code section 395-151-035 sets forth various methods for
designating school speed zones with sigms;
NOW TH.ER.EFOR~, the City Council of the City of Spokane Valley; Spokane County, ~lrashington,
ordains as follows:
Section 1. Amending_pokane Vallev Municipal Code section 9.05.030. Spokane Valley
Municipal Code section 9.05.030 is hereby amended as follows:
Former Speed Limits Retained. The maximum speed limits far streets established by the
Spokane County Code and as otherwise established by Spokane C-aunty ordinance or
resolution for which speed limit signs have been duly pasted by Spokane County, are
hereby adopted as the speed limits on those said streets in the City of Spokane Valley.
The City of Spokane Valley may amend or adopt such school speed zones as necessary
and may designate- school speed zones with any of the signage options pursuant to
Washington Administrative Code section 392-151-035 as adopted or amended. The
Council shall establish any changes to speed limits or school speed zones by resolution.
Section 2. Severability. If any portion of this Ordinance or its application to any person or
circumstances is held invalid, the remainder of the Ordinance or the application or the provision to other
persons or circumstance- s shall not be affected.
Section 3. Effective Date. This Ordinance shall be in full force and efleat five days after
publication ofi this Ordinance or a summary thereof in the official newspaper of the City as provided by
